She strives to present the Bay Area with intelligent and diverse comedy shows. For the past 8 years, Lisa has been running a monthly show Comedy Returns to El Rio at El Rio in San Francisco’s Mission District where she began her comedy career almost 30 years ago. Other past comedy productions include: Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
Lisa’s first (and only) film, “Esther & Me,” a profile of octogenarian, Esther Weintraub, a former comedian and resident at The Jewish Home San Francisco screened at 12 film festivals in the US, Canada, and Europe.
SAMSON KOLETKAR was born in Mumbai and raised Jewish. He brings a refreshingly new approach to cerebral, witty, thought provoking clean humor with a first generation immigrant perspective. Driven by personal trials and tribulations, his subtle satire addresses religious and political hypocrisies, social issues, and the absurdities of human nature.
Samson has performed all over the USA, Canada and India. He has been featured on network television and founded Desi Comedy Fest and Comedy Oakland. Samson has won the International Society of Humor Studies and the Asian American Theatre Company comedy competitions and headlines the "You're Funny But You Don't look Jewish" national comedy tour.
JOE NGUYEN is Subtle but sharp, laid-back yet engaging. He is the smart slacker beloved by audiences for his easygoing delivery and well-written jokes. Raised in Georgia by immigrants of Vietnamese and Jewish descent, Joe was destined to become a stand-up comedian. His unique perspective and likeable stage presence have made him a favorite at clubs, colleges, niche shows and private events throughout the country.
Joe is a regular at the Punch Line and Cobb’s in San Francisco. He has been featured on the Kung Pao Kosher Comedy show and currently tours with You’re Funny But You Don’t Look Jewish.
